Doing a commissioned piece for someone can sometimes be tricky, especially when you are creating a piece for someone who is not well-versed in “art language.” It can be difficult for that person to describe what it is they are looking for in style, color or technique. I find that the easiest way to keep both me and the person wishing to make a request frustrated is by asking them to select works of art which they like or are similar to what they want.
The piece I did for this commission was interesting because there was a small misunderstanding in the beginning, which led me to start with a very vibrant orange piece. By the time the work was completed, though, you can see that it is far from being that image.
Also, this image is HUGE. 4’x6′. It can be easy to forget that when you look at a photograph. If you click on the image you can see it larger if you like.
