A friend of mine was nice enough to pose for this painting. I am not going through a blue period, heh. This piece is a throw back to what I originally started creating when I was a painter– monochromatic people. Of course, when I was painting those it was the first time I had gotten the nerve to try to paint people, so many of my people weren’t amazing and in many ways were colorful comic strips of reality. Perhaps trying to paint real skin tone was too intimidating at the time so I elected to make them impossible colors. I did enjoy painting this piece, especially her left hand and the area about the collar bones. In many ways this painting is “raw” with areas that are like a sketch… I liked it and decided to keep it that way.
